Section 17(b) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008

Purpose and Reason:

Under section 17(b) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008, the Rhode Island Department of Human Services has been authorized by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) to operate the Elderly Simplified Application Project that seeks to increase participation among the elderly/disabled population who have no earned income by streamlining the application and certification process.
